Barn Style Home Design by Japanese Architecture Firm

This awesome barn style home design is a unique workshop / home in Hamamatsu City by Japanese architecture firm Yukiharu Suzuki & Associates. This industrial-chic house has a “homey” twist that makes it an inspiring working and living space. This three-storey concrete and wood barn is perched on a hillside with dramatic views of the sea and skyline. From the outside, the home’s unusual slat-style facades allow interior light to permeate out, offering the house a glowing effect. Inside, the house is a vast open-concept space, open to above with exposed wood posts and beams that give it that “workshop” flair. Glass walls line the main floor, flooding interiors with natural light while blurring the boundary between inside and out. Passive Solar House Design Overlooking Mount Olympus

Christina Zerva Architects designed this modern passive solar house design in Nikaia, Greece. Its geometric form, open concept layout and glass walls frame the stunning views of Mount Olympus. The house is divided in two cubes connected by a glass bridge. The main living area is a two-storey space with industrial-chic elements like exposed steel beams, artistic light fixtures and floor-to-ceiling windows which connect the home’s modern interior to its contemporary facade. The kitchen boasts glossy white cabinetry and countertops, slate floors, and a yellow wall and faux ceiling with circular cut-outs that reveal the true ceiling above. An enclosed staircase with square cut-outs leads upstairs. Although it can’t be seen outright, there’s an ever-present eco sustainable factor at play here. The home’s steel frame is wrapped in prefabricated organic blocks that passively maintain a comfortable temperature during the summer’s heat and the winter’s chill. The rooftop features photovoltaic solar panels that deliver sustainable energy. Recycled and repurposed materials make up much of this passive solar house design, illuminated by LEDs for low-energy consumption

This pair of townhouses located along Berrima Road in the Adam Road district, Singapore was designed by K2LD Architects. Long and narrow, the houses share a central Oku – a spiritual void between which a tropical garden emerges for respite and contemplation. The houses employ passive design for cooling, notably in the concrete extrusions and recesses as well as the lap pool placed strategically on the roof for views and insulation.

In underground home designs, this unusual house plan is the collaboration between the Netherlands architects at SeARCH and Christian Muller Architects. This underground home, located in the Swiss village of Vals, is set amidst a cluster of mountain houses and if you don’t look carefully you might miss it! The most striking thing about this stone house is the majestic Alpine view through a wide, elliptical opening in the hillside, revealing spacious outdoor entertaining areas that lead to the home’s main entrance. Another entrance from a nearby barn leads residents and guests through an underground pathway, providing an alternate entryway into the home. The circular opening in the mountainside allows for lots of windows, which flood interiors with natural light while framing the stunning mountain views.

Deep in the desert of Pioneertown, California, this simple sustainable house was designed by architect Lloyd Russell as the “ultimate desert structure.” A striking steel canopy makes up the home’s main shelter, under which the eco house design takes shape. The house is made of recycled materials, making the old new again, and beautiful too. An essential in the sandy hotspot, the innovative canopy house was designed to passively regulate the home’s temperature threefold – first, to reflect the sun’s rays and heat away from the home; second, to shade the house; and third, to act as a wind buffer, allowing the cooling breeze to blow through the structure. The 1,600-sq.-ft. main house features rusted corrugated-steel walls with contemporary, wide expanses of glass that slide open to bring the outdoors in and further cool interiors.

It’s brilliant idea, in tropical this design can make high temperature solution. High temperature from sun rise can’t come in to the house because it’s blow by wind at top of inside roof. But this design have a weakness if the wind blow too fast the dust can come in to the house because the door with sliding glass can truly close
